Michael Stützer comments on DMeA nomination
As you may already be aware of; Artillery have been nominated in the category ‘Metal Album of the Year’ at the Danish Metal Awards 2009, and Michael Stützer is obviously much pleased that the band finally yields some acknowledgement in his native country.
‘Personally, I think it’s cool, because it is recognition after so many years – we are after all some old bastards, and that people still bother to listen to our music after so many years, feels good’, Michael states! ‘Being nominated along with the new Danish metal scene and to be successful there, it is completely unique – there are not many other bands that have tried the same thing. Other old bands are boxed as if they are finished.
On whether he expects the album to win an award, Michael says:
’One should always believe in it, but competition is fierce. But we hope. It would be a nod on the shoulder to win, after 25 years of struggle. One can not exactly say that we have been smiled upon by good fortune.’
Artillery is moreover set to play at the award show in January 2010, and the band has something up their sleeves regarding their appearance.
’We have considered doing it that way, that we focus on songs from the new album and combine it with a number from one of the old records, but I will not reveal the tracks now. We have an idea for a fun gimmick for the live show, but you must be there to see it. No need to tell all.’
